Skotte looks a little worried here, what with “The Black Death Coming Soon to a Village Near You!” I’d be anxious, too!
You may have heard about a historical happening called The Black Plague. This shirt is a Band Concert Shirt style referencing the massively unpleasant widespread disease that plagued Europe and the Middle East in the 1300s.
Skotte and I both have a morbid curiosity about dark things, such as times like this. It is mind blowing to think of the widespread panic and fear that must have overtaken the people who experienced this. The population went down 100 million people!
Skotte got this shirt at the Newman Renassance Festival in Wichita, Kansas in the early 1990s. This makes it perhaps one of the oldest shirts Skotte still owns. Skotte’s favorite movie, The Seventh Seal, also takes place during the plagues.
I am also reminded of Monty Python and The Holy Grail when looking at the back of the shirt.
“Bring Out Your Dead!”
“I’m not dead yet!”
