We’re not sure if this makes history seem less refined or Warcraft seem more refined.
Only the dead have seen the end of war. ~Plato
If you do not wish to fight, confuse the enemy. ~Sun Tzu
Cori here. I took many classes in college about the 1960s counterculture in the United States. I led a peace loving existence, wore lots of tie dye, and read many hippy authors. It was a shock to Skotte when we tried playing World of Warcraft, and I liked it.
No, I LOVED it.
I’ve learned that there is so much more to war than just the front line, face to face battles, although that is what first came to my mind when thinking of war. Every person has a part to play. War can change you, even imaginary wars. I am grateful for this experience, grateful for the men and women who have engaged in real wars, and grateful that my participation can be in whatever form I choose.
As we head towards Memorial Day, I will be thinking of soldiers, in particular my Granddad, who was in the 100th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. The war never left his mind, and while he shared quite a lot with us, he never talked about his direct involvement. He passed away a few years ago, but he is never far away from my heart.
